Magazine website analysis 1- VOGUE
You are immediately greeted with the brand name being the biggest piece of text, and the next things that draw your eye straight away are the two bold ‘subscribe’ buttons to quickly try to convince anyone that clicks on the website, all the text is black which helps bring attention to the photos/stories just under the content section for their audience to quickly navigate to any section in particular they want, including things like ‘beauty, fashion, culture, arts’ etc. things a creative, middle class audience will take interest in. There is also a large shopping session with a large dashboard of particular products, reinforcing the power and media theory with a capitalist approach, especially as some of the stories advertise things to buy or places to visit and how to book them, appealing to their middle class audience will be able to afford these things. It is notable that all their stories on the website seem to be free but to view an actual digital issue you have to subscribe and pay, which must be their main way of gaining revenue as their middle/upper class audience can afford it and there aren’t any adverts around their stories, there are only a lot of things that want you to sign up to their newsletter or download their app. As you scroll down there is a few ‘must reads’ and ‘top editors’ parts, then a mix of stories from different sections to attract mass audiences. All their social media links are right at the bottom, possibly suggesting this isn’t their priority but they still post to encourage social interaction between audiences.
